Gospel Roads I: Lexington, Kentucky
by Megan Fitzsimmons, young team member
This past week in Kentucky was an eye-opening and life changing experience I will hold dear to my heart. Serving the people of Mckee Kentucky allowed us to impact their lives in more ways than we could imagine. We've all seen pictures of poor countries in our nation, homeless people on the street or those in line at a soup kitchen. But this week gave us another glimpse of those less fortunate than us. Seeing the living conditions those families have to live in, such as a roof caving in and the surrounding area helped give us a better understanding of those hardships they encounter day by day. Most importantly, helping and serving those people gave me a better understanding and appreciation for everything I have and to never take something for granted again. It was such a blessing to meet those people and bring joy and happiness to their lives. By putting a smile on their faces and talking with them, we were able to be disciples of Christ and bring Jesus to them.
