Traveling to/from GR Leeds: Leeds is just outside of Birmingham, Alabama. Anyone traveling to the program via plane, train, or bus, should travel in and out of Birmingham. The aiport is Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Intl Airport (code: BHM). Trains and buses arrive to Birmingham Station (code: BHM). If arriving to one of these places, you will be picked up and dropped off by a member of the GR Leeds team. If you're driving, please travel directly to St. Theresa's.

Host Site Facts:
Facilities: St. Theresa's offers use of their newly-renovated church and parish hall for all group activities. All indoor facilities are air-conditioned!
Lodging: Participants will be housed in St. Theresa's Religious Education Houses - one house for male participants, one house for female participants. The houses are not equipped with furnished bedrooms, so participants will be responsible for bringing their own air mattresses, sleeping bags, and pillows. They will be sharing rooms with 2-3 other participants of the same gender and age range (minors with minors, adults with adults). There will be at least one separate room in each house for adult chaperons and/or team members.
Bathrooms: Each house has private bathrooms which will be shared among the residents of that house. Everyone will be responsible for bringing their own towels and toiletries.

Worksite Facts:
Past worksites for GR Leeds include:
Holy Rosary Summer Camp: Serve underpriviledged youth by helping at a day camp run by the Salesian community at Birmingham's Holy Rosary Parish.
St. Theresa Catholic Church: Serve the community that serves us by helping clean up the parish and providing some necessary work around the property.
Birmingham Catholic Charities/Habitat for Humanity: Serve victims of the April 2010 tornados with the Diocese and Habitat by building homes.
Camp Tekawitha: Serve the youth of the Diocese of Birmingham by helping to restore an old summer camp and give them a place to enjoy the outdoors.

Nick Magrogan
Program Director

This will be Nick's third summer as the director of GR Leeds.

Nick graduated from Don Bosco Prep in 2005, and went on to attend Seton Hall University. While there, he began working with the Salesians, and now, six years later, he continues to work at the Salesian House in South Orange, NJ.

Since 2004, he has been a part of Gospel Roads retreats in NJ, NY, FL, LA, PA, AL, and the Dominican Republic. He describes walking the Gospel Roads as "a life-long commitment to service and justice" in which "we are called to continue to serve those who are most in need, and more importantly, to recognize and respect the dignity of every person as we work to end the injustices they suffer."
